New Glarus TAG Advocates

Goals & Objectives

Curriculum, The goal of TAG Advocates is to ensure that all students receive appropriate and challenging instruction within the classroom.  To reach this goal we will:

· Work with the Curriculum Director to develop an integrated, comprehensive, challenging curriculum for the New Glarus School District.

· Explore block scheduling as an option to provide cluster grouping by subject, as well as joint academic programs with area school districts.

· Continue to recommend and support staff development training on classroom differentiation at the earliest possible in-service date.

 

TAG Program Structure,  The goal of TAG Advocates is to ensure a comprehensive TAG program for New Glarus students from kindergarten through grade 12.  To reach this goal we will:

· Work to develop policies for TAG, including identification, notification, acceleration, TAG files, individual education programs, portfolio development, etc., by the school district and TAG Coordinator.

· Continue to develop and support enrichment programs, including Junior Great Books, math team, etc.

 

Culture of Academic Excellence,  The goal of TAG Advocates is to support and value all students who are achieving the District goal of academic excellence.  To reach this goal we will:

· Continue to improve communication about high achieving students in newspaper articles, on the school web site, etc.

· Recommend and support district reporting of test scores, middle school and high school orientation programs for parents, and exit interviews for students leaving grades 6, 8 and 12.

· Continue to recommend social and emotional support be provided to high achieving students by the administration, staff, teachers, and mentors.
